R & A

A backyard proposal.

This session is special for a few reasons. It happened in the backyard of the first home my husband & I owned. It was also the first official photography gig I ever had. I dug out my old Canon t5 I've had since high school that I really didn't understand how to use.

It was the suspense of waiting for the couple to show up.

It was the rush of seeing the car pull up.

It was the contagious joy of her smile.

It was the celebration of their closest friends and family that were gathered there.

It was the unique way to bless the couple by being the one capturing every moment, unscripted, not posed.

It was the photos they will always look back on, send to their loved ones, print out, frame, hang up.

My heart was entangled in a new passion. I loved taking these photos of a friend's big life-moment. It's an honor just to be present for an event like a proposal but to be the one who gets to see the moment in a unique way, a beautiful angel, the right lighting.

But I didn't think I had "what it takes" or that I would get an opportunity again. So for now, this moment of capturing our friend getting on one knee in the backyard was special enough.
